Image / Photo Editing PowerPC

In my opinion, its the most classic of the classics and it’s probably the most famous Image / Photo Editing application for Mac platform.  This application is supposed to come installed in every single Mac computer (in my opinion) but for some reason Apple didn’t think to add this application to their platform.  Microsoft is still delivering windows with Paint and most people need something that is a very friendly interface, easy to use and capable of atleast basic image / photo editing…and this is what GIMP is all about.

GIMP 2.8.4 (Free) – PowerPC friendly – Tiger 10.4.11 / Leopard 10.5.7+.  (They provide support for those Intel felines as well. http://gimp.lisanet.de/Website/News/News.html

I also wanted to make mention of a few other applications, including:

Seashore 0.5.1 (Free) – PowerPC friendly – Tiger 10.4.11 or later.  Also a great option of open source for Image editors. – http://seashore.sourceforge.net/The_Seashore_Project/About.html

iPaint 1.9 (Free) – PowerPC friendly – Leopard 10.5 – Based on famous Paintbrush – http://ipaint.sourceforge.net/

Paintbrush 2.1.1 (Free) – PowerPC friendly – Leopard 10.5.  Talking about classics, this is a simple paint program similar to Microsoft Paint and MacPaint. – http://paintbrush.sourceforge.net/

Vanilla 3.0 1 .0 (Free) – PowerPC friendly – Leopard 10.5.  Simple drawing application inspired by Paintbrush. – http://sourceforge.net/projects/vanilladraw/

Acorn 1.5.4 (Demo) PowerPC friendly – Tiger 10.4 / Leopard 10.5. – Bitmap Image Editor. http://flyingmeat.com/acorn/

Image Tricks on PowerPC (Photo/Image Editor)

A while ago I found this application and installed it on my PowerPC, and it worked great.  So I decided to save the link in my bookmarks but because I have so many bookmarked pages, it takes me forever to find things!  Many of you will know what I mean!  Today I am pleased to finally share a great Photo and Image Editing program for Mac PowerPC.

* Image Tricks - http://belightsoft.com/products/products.php – It’s a very powerful photo image editing program, easy to use and a very friendly interface that makes it even easier to test the effects that are divided in 3 tabs: Filters/Quartz/Generators.  You can drag and drop photos from iPhoto and save in formats like: PDF/TIFF/GIF/JPEG/PNG.  If you are looking for something easy with fast results, without spending money and excess time to learn the application.  Image Tricks will fit you like a glove, but also will enhance your photos/Images and make them appear more professional.  If you decide to go PRO you will have even more options/features (of course).

Pixelmator (Image Editor) for Mac PowerPC

Pixelmator (1.5.1) for Mac PowerPC

Alright, this is not the latest version of Pixelmator but we need to be happy with what we can get.  Pixelmator is a great image editor with great features to work with which allows you to customize pictures or create Images.  It’s not free but you can download a demo version and have a taste what it’s like to work with this powerful image editor.  This app would be perfect if we could update it to the latest versiont, but they say “PowerPC can not handle it!”  Sorry to tell them that the PowerMac G5 is built like a horse!  If you are tired of working with Gimp and want to challenge yourself to try something new, then Pixelmator is the software to start with.

*Pixelmator (1.5.1) PowerPC Leopard 10.5 - http://www.pixelmator.com/  or you can download the PowerPC version here:  http://www.pixelmator.com/blog/2010/02/11/pixelmator-1-5-1-is-now-available/
