Friends of Mac PowerPC

In this post I wanted to share blogs/sites that I check often for news & information with my PowerPC fans.  There are a good number of people out there that are on the same page as us and they support our goal of keeping our processors running for as long as as they can.  If you have a blog/web-site about PowerPC send me an e-mail or message.

*PPC LUDDITE – http://ppcluddite.blogspot.com/ – They always supply great information, options, sources for PowerPC machines.  It’s the perfect blog to check on a regular basis and you will always find great material.  “Living PowerPC in the age of Intel”.

* TheChurchOfApple – http://thechurchofapple.com/ – This is my sister blog, it’s not PowerPC related but there is great information about Apple.

* MyMachttp://mymac.com – Publishing since 1995

*PowerPC Software Archive – http://www.powerpcsoftware.com/ – For PowerPC users this is a great site that supports G3/G4/G5 (you can not go wrong), it’s all organized in tabs (Internet / video & audio/ text & document/ utilities, etc.)  Some of the apps have an option of Mirror downloading or a link to the Official web site.  Their own words: “We have made our best attempt to deliver the last PowerPC versions of various Macintosh software, so that you may continue to extend the life of your computers.“

*TigerOSX Tiger is Here – http://tigerosx.wordpress.com/ – This is like my “sister site / brother blog” and I visit it almost every day!   I would say this blog is a must not just for Tiger but for all PowerPC users.  Leopard users should watch out…because the Tiger is HERE!

  1. I wouldn’t put lowendmac, tigerosx or systemfolder on that list. Tigerosx and systemfolder haven’t been updated in many months. Sorry, rule number one of blogging is if you can’t bother to post anything it’s the same thing as not having a blog. Lowendmac, once one of the best mac sites on the web, now rarely writes about macs (iOS news and fundraising predominate) or PowerPC anymore. No one at lowendmac seems to have any real interest in keeping PowerPC alive, which is what ppcluddite, mymaccollection and your excellent and regularly updated blog are all about.

  2. i agree about low end mac. i try to defend ppc macs but too many intel lovers. no intel mac is low end, i dont care what those idiots think. also too many teenagers that are instant experts because they have access to google.

  3. Don’t see a mention of firefox. It is being ported for the PPC under the name “Ten for Mac” and is available for G3, G4 and G5. It’s kept up to date and works well for me.

  5. Has anyone found a fix for Google Maps’ recent revisions that now mean that I can only get the ‘lite’ version. I don’t want any new features, but I’d like all of the ones I could use before they reformulated it. Thanks. Chris.
