Facebook Desktop Application PowerPC

Facebook is one of the sole reasons people spend more time in front of a computer than ever before.  Personally, I blame timeline because for some reason you always want to check what your friends are doing/sharing.  I have a really small list of friends/family and I only add family and friends that I know “in real life”.  But anyways when it comes to PowerPC users we are very limited in finding Facebook applications compatible with our system.  Some time ago I posted about a menu tab and recently  found another option to share with you today:

* Facebook Desktop 1.9 (Shareware) – PowerPC Leopard 10.5.  It looks like a browser but its very dynamic and already has tabs for Facebook, Twitter, Chat and Lifestyle.  It’s really nice to browse and it ran very well on my iBook 1.07GHz.  The only problem is this is a Demo version and you can only run it for 5 minutes at a time.  The developer’s web site it’s offline so it’s hard to contact them to get a serial number.  Anyways I still think its a good application to share with you:

SetAlphaValue PowerPC

This might be a must application for many of you but for some of you it might not change anything in your day to day computer use.  Either way we are here to share information and applications available for PowerPC computers running the Mac OS X Operational System.

SetAlphaValue 2.2.2 (Free) – PowerPC 10.3.9 or later.  This application sets the alphaValue of windows and has been discontinued. (Just saying).  If anyone have or found a link please share with us.

To-Do List Manager for PowerPC

For a long time now, I’ve been holding onto these programs and have only just decided to let it all out, because we’ve been very busy trying to source and share apps that support the PowerPC.  These ones come as suggestions from my readers, from around the world, and I didn’t want them to think that I kept their suggestions all to myself!  These are great applications that seem to surround the task of organizing your life.  You won’t regret having these To-Do list managers installed in your machine.  Some of them also work with Windows (if you’re so inclined)…

Here are 4 names that do the job very well and all of them are PowerPC friendly!

* Task Coach – (Free) – 1.3.20 – (Tiger 10.4/Leopard 10.5) – http://www.taskcoach.org/

* Simple To-Do – (Free) – 2.3 – (Leopard 10.5) – http://www.julius-eckert.com/project/view/1/5 or you can download it here: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/26662/simpletodo

* Simple Task – (Free) – 1.1.1 – (Leopard 10.5) – With iPhone support – http://www.simpletaskapp.com/ or you can download it here: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/31199/simpletask

* ToTo – (Free) – 1.5 – (Leopard 10.5) I need to point out that this app runs in the menu bar, which is a nice touch and the icon is gorgeous…it reminds me of the musical Wicked. :) Anyways http://www.fredandrandall.com/toto/

I would like to highlight that these applications are all free and some of them are open for donations to help to keep their projects alive.  Also I want to mention that like them, Mac PowerPC also is accepting donations which we use to keep this project online.  Your donations help me pay for the various expenses associated with keeping a blog online, and I’m committed to continue searching for new and free software options for PowerPC users.  Feel free to send us some love in your comments and check out our advertisements – That would also help me keep this blog up and running!

Peace!

P.S.:  Thanks to http://thepowerpcarchive.com that recommend a nice application:

Anxiety 1.0 (Free) PowerPC friendly, 10.5/Leopard – http://www.anxietyapp.com/

Maximize/Optimize Your PowerPC

I follow a Facebook Page called: Mac OS X Tiger PPC and recently they posted some great articles that resonated with me.  I wanted to share these tips here:

One great post showed me that I had printer drivers installed that I don’t use, which can be found in Hard Drive/Library/Printers.  Carefully remove the folders for printers that you don’t use and you probably will save over 1GB of hard drive space!

Second Tip:  To maximize your system, use an application called IceClean.  It’s a powerful system maintenance and optimization tool using a built-in UNIX System.

IceClean 3.4.8 – (Free) 10.5 (Leopard) – Powerful and simple – http://www.macdentro.com/MacDentro/Home.html

IceClean 2.5 – (Free) 10.4 (Tiger).

ScreenFlow – Create Professional Screen Recordings on PowerPC

There are many reasons for why you should have a good application to screen recordings.  I think the most popular reason would be for podcasting as you’ll need an application more advanced than Quicktime screen recorder, that allows you to better edit your video.  For me, ScreenFlow was very competent and easily ran on my PowerPC.

*ScreenFlow 2.1.10 (Demo – $99.00) – PowerPC – Leopard 10.5 – http://www.telestream.net/screen-flow/overview.htm – It’s very dynamic,easy to use screen recording application.  The interface it’s very clean and a fter afew hours of playing with it, you probably will feel very comfortable with its features and effects.  This reminds me a little bit of GarageBand and it’s easy to add additional voice recorder, music, images and let your imagination flow.  The results will be a very professional video.  ScreenFlow also helps you in publishing your clips to web-sites/blogs or to Youtube/Vimeo.  If you have a PowerPC Mac with web-cam and a good microphone, and feel like you want to podcast or create tutorials, we encourage you to give ScreenFlow a try.  If the results are satisfactory, send your clips to us and we will share them on our Facebook/Twitter page.

P.S.: Before you purchase this application contact Telestream and make sure that they are still providing serial-numbers for the version 2.1.10.
