Dropbox Dropping Suport for PowerPC

I didn’t receive a good news right in the beginning of 2015 to PowerPC community.  Recently I found out that the great application/cloud storage Dropbox is dropping the support for PowerPC machines.  This will leave us behind for good, not being able to sync devices with PowerPC computers will drop us down.

I really hope Dropbox will reconsider the decision and I believe many users of dropbox are PowerPC users due other computers/devices has their own cloud applications.

I want to point out the people from VivaPowerPC wrote a letter to Dropbox team and let’s hope they will supporting us.

We can always use the social media to let @dropbox know we are using the app.

We are really on the edge but to use a PowerPC it’s a matter of option at this point.

LibreOffice + Dropbox are PowerPC Friend

I’m assuming that most of you are already aware of some updates available for PowerPC’s applications, but I decided to make a post just in case you missed it!  So this post is really just one for “checking” out information you may not have been aware of.  Let’s see how up to date you are!

1 – LibreOffice recently released LibreOffice4, but now its LibreOffice 4.0.2 is already available for download – http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?type=mac-ppc&lang=en-US (There is the next version available for test if you feel like checking it out, too! 4.0.3.

2 – Our good friend DropBox recently released an update and for our great surprise its actually compatible with PowerPC.  DropBox 2.0.8 – http://dropbox.com

These 2 softwares are fundamental for any PowerPC machine or better yet, for any computer because they’re so friendly, free and work across multiple platforms.

How many of you have installed LibreOffice + DropBox?  Please tweet:

Dropbox for Mac PowerPC

Dropbox for Mac PowerPC

It’s time to go to the clouds!  I actually just wanted to mention the name because I think all the Mac PowerPC users know what an amazing app Dropbox is.  This app is a sigh of relief for PowerPC!  It’s so simple and the way that it works is amazing.  Even today, I stop to think about it and the only thing  that comes to my mind is “how amazing this works”.  You can install it in any computer, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad (and essentially anything else that starts with “i”) and everything just syncs as soon as you have an internet conection.  You can check your profile on the internet in case your computer isn’t near by.  Our world travellers can scan their documents and upload them into an online folder, so they can access them from anywhere in the world.  You can also share this file/folder with friends anywhere, by just adding their e-mail address.
