Using AdFly

Hey guys I just want to heads up what is happening on this blog right now.  We decide to try to use the system of AdFly.

What it does?

Well,  when you click on some links it brings you to AdFly page and it will show some ads for 5 seconds and then you can skip the ad on the top right corner.  It takes literally only 5 seconds.

We from Mac PowerPC started posting here since may/2011 (we have 231 posts). It almost 3 years posting about applications and things to do with your old good Macintosh. I get many e-mails from people telling me that they started using their old Macintosh that once was lost in closet.  I’m very happy when I get this kind of feedback because  we are recycling these machines and we are getting most of our money back, I believe when you bought the latest G4 and G5 back in the day you spent a good amount of money.

Reality:

I do appreciate all the donations (but it very rare when it happens).  I understand is hard to give money for something that you are getting for free, and free is the deal that we are always looking to post here, you can check almost all the posts they are about fee applications.  But I have bills to pay with this blog, every year I have to renew this blog/ address/etc and it cost me money to keep this blog running, believe me I’m not making money out of this I’m just trying to make it pay for itself.

I only hope you guys understand the situation and don’t make a big deal about it.

Please let me know what you guys think about it, since we changed (2 days ago) we just got 1 bad feedback.

Thank you all.

Blogs/Sites for Mac PowerPC

Blogs/Sites for Mac PowerPC

In this post I wanted to share blogs/sites that I check often for news & information with my PowerPC fans.  There are a good number of people out there that are on the same page as us and they support our goal of keeping our processors running for as long as as they can;

*LowEndMac – http://lowendmac.com/ – It’s a really good place for resource, software, news, articles, etc.  They are online since 1997 and I recommend clicking here!.

*TigerOSX Tiger is Here – http://tigerosx.wordpress.com/ – This is like my “sister site / brother blog” and I visit it almost every day.  Recently, the blogger took a vacation but he is alive and posting!  His post about  AppleWorks6 is really good material/tutorial!   I would say this blog is a must not just for Tiger but for all PowerPC users.  Leopard users should watch out…because the Tiger is HERE!

*OldApps – http://mac.oldapps.com/ – They support old apps of the 3 main OS, Mac, Linux and Doors oops sorry I mean Windows.  If you are still running an old computer you must check this site… you will find great apps available.

*PowerPC Software Archive – http://www.powerpcsoftware.com/ – For PowerPC users this is a great site that supports G3/G4/G5 (you can not go wrong), it’s all organized in tabs (Internet / video & audio/ text & document/ utilities, etc.)  Some of the apps have an option of Mirror downloading or a link to the Official web site.  They already have a good resource of apps/software, and a visit is a must.  Their own words: “We have made our best attempt to deliver the last PowerPC versions of various Macintosh software, so that you may continue to extend the life of your computers.“

*PPC LUDDITE – http://ppcluddite.blogspot.com/ – They always supply great information, options, sources for PowerPC machines.  It’s the perfect blog to check on a regular basis and you will always find great material.  “Living PowerPC in the age of Intel”.

*Macintosh Garden – http://macintoshgarden.org/ – It’s a place for  abandonware!  Here we can find games/apps/software/emulators/etc.  Even software for OS 9 and above.  Browse around and I’m sure you’ll download a few things.

*My Mac Collection – http://macintoshcollection.wordpress.com/ –  Also a “sister site / brother blog” that just started and already has great material available online, giving you great selections of software and tips on how to optimize your macintosh.

*F.A.Q for PowerPC Macs – http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1091765

*And the Museum sites, I don’t know about you but I love to check old computers:

*http://imacworld.110mb.com/ (this is a nice site, but looks like it’s offline, I will try again later)
