Old OS System for Mac PowerPC

Let’s talk about nostalgia… I was checking few blogs and web sites and I found a great article on LowEndMac talking about the old Mac OS System. I thought that it would be great to Know a bit about OS 6 or OS 7, just to play around and do some tests.

  1. A bit of nostalgia … :-)
Long time ago (1992), I started my first Mac-experience on SE/30 with system 7.01. It was great. My colleagues had to work with big IBM-boxes running DOS 5 … I can assure you that I was not jealous of their noisy computers with green screen and long lists of commands to be memorized… ! Mac was not my first computer (I used MSX before it started using Mac) but it was most certainly the first computer I felt comfortable with. System 7 was a big step for mankind… :-)
And of course, sometimes I had a little bomb (error-message) on the screen and really, OSX is more stable than OS7, but nevertheless, it was a very nice OS!

  2. LEM has always been good at helping people run old outdated software. In terms of modern secure alternatives like Linux I consider them the enemy of PowerPC hardware.

Dan Knight (head writer and founder of LEM) is on a personal mission to keep peoples technical advancement to a minimum. As I said recently on my blog he has admitted to me via an email I still have that he has never been able to successfully install Linux. A man that doesn’t know how to use or even install Linux is the biggest advocate of people not running it. He is very afraid of common users gaining more skill than he has.

I can promise you Marc that your computing skill far exceeds anything Dan Knight has under the hood. It is they who should look up to you and not the other way around.

Both my blog and iFix Old Macs along with several individuals have joined in the LEM boycott and I encourage you to do the same. They are the biggest threat to PowerPC health and general well being.
