System Monitoring your PowerPC

It’s important to check on how your computer is doing during the day.  This might sound strange, but to make sure you are not abusing the limits of your Mac we selected some online software that you can use to better understand how your memory, processor, network, battery, etc are being used.  With these programs, you are able to open or close more apps without worrying about having to force quit.

iPulse 2.5.1 – (Shareware $9.95) – PowerPC – Tiger / Leoapard. or you can download here –

XRG 1.6.1 – (Free) – PowerPC – Leopard.

iStat Pro 4.92 – (Free) (Widget) – PowerPC – Tiger / Leopard. for some reason the web site is off line, you can download it here:

Feel free to share your comments on any app that also helps to track the progress of your Mac.

This will be the last post of 2012.  Happy New Year and see you in 2013.  :)

  1. Just some notes here.
iPulse. The link you provide is to the 10.6 version, Intel only. I’m using version 2.1.10 which runs on PowerPC.

XRG. The link you provide goes to the main page where you can download 1.7 which is Intel only. Here’s a better link to 1.6.1:

iStat Pro: You are unclear as to what is being linked to. The MacUpdate link is to the widget, which is still PowerPC and still free. But iSlayer stopped making iStat Pro, the System Preference for PowerPC Mac with version 3.0 and as of version 2.0 it’s NOT free.

If you can still locate a version of iStat Pro 2.x be aware that it has a memory leak that causes the process SystemUIServer to accrue massive amounts of ram over time. This was fixed with version 3.x but of course, 3.x is Intel only.

  2. Hi Erik; Thank you for the informations you shared with us. About the iPulse we mentioned version 2.5.1 can be installed on PowerPC and you can download here – . We prefer to mentioned the the official link but I will update to the MacUpdate link. I forgot to mentioned that iStat Pro is Widget, I also will update this information.
About the XRG if you look at the main page there is “XRG for OS X 10.5″ and that is the one compatible for PowerPC 1.6.1.
Thank you again for your comment :)

  3. Oh my goodness! Incredible article dude! Many thanks, However I am having
issues with your RSS. I don’t know the reason why I am unable to join it. Is there anybody getting the same RSS problems? Anyone who knows the solution will you kindly respond? Thanks!!
