All Apple users know that MSN for Mac is something that won’t ever become more user friendly. I don’t know why, but it is terrible if you compare with the version for Windows! Anyways, MSN for mac seems to be 2 or 3 versions behind. The funny thing is that MS Office 11 is of good quality for mac, but MSN continues to stay behind the pack. I don’t need to mention that MSN for PowerPC is archaic! For Intel right now you can use the web-cam. I think they really want to kill MSN! But a very simple and great app comes to the orchard to save our lifes: “Adium”. Adium is awesome app and runs very smoothy for PowerPC… even if you are still using Tiger (10.4.11). I also need mention Mercury Messenger because it is a very simple basic looking program but works much better than MSN. I can not forget to give a chance to our friend from Linux AMSN, it’s also a great app to keep in touch with all your friends and it’s the only one that supports web-cam for PowerPC users!!!!! If you want to try some of the programs I have mentioned, you can go to http://www.macupdate.com/ and make your choice! Also few links bellow:
* Mercury Messenger http://mercury.im/
* AMSN (Great App) http://www.amsn-project.net/
* Adium (1.3.10) One of the Best http://adium.im/
Please if you like subscribe to my blog or leave a comment. Thanks
Adium 1.4.5 is available to Mac PPCs running 10.5.8, too! Which means you can still have a recent version (at the time of this writing, naturally; seems they may be dropping / have dropped support for PPC).. you may have to change the download link to be able to get that version though.
When we post I was working with an iBook G4 running Tiger, so I just could do the test with the Tiger version, right now I don’t have any powerpc machine, so it’s hard for me to make sure what it will work and what won’t. But thank you for the heads up.
