Simple MP3 Players – We All Need It.

This is a catch up from a few posts ago – Simple MP3 Player.  After I shared the link on Facebook I got a few recommendations of Simple MP3 Players and here are the links:

* MacAmp Lite X – http://macamplite.com/

* Mint Audio 1.5 – http://www.tucows.com/preview/203998/Mint-Audio

* Audion (+ other apps) – http://download.panic.com/

Thanks for all the recommendations guys.

Simple MP3 Players

I have been looking for an application like this one that I’m about to share for a long time now.  It’s very straight forward so do not expect anything other than its ability to play music.  In this instance, the one benefit is that it plays music with style.

* Retro Player 1.7 –  (Free) – PowerPC friendly 10.3 or later.  It’s a simple music player that looks like a retro LP player, complete with on/off button and speed adjustor(33/45).  You also can “fast forward” into a specific part of the album by moving the arm and placing at your desired location.  You can also choose the amount of record noise you want to hear, and the program will insert the “snaps and pops” that you’d expect from an LP.

I have my conventional Vinyl Player and I’m always on the look out for adding classic Vinyls to my collection… but this app is awesome.  I’m always playing random MP3s with it.  The only thing I wish there was a way to open more than a just a single album. http://www.studio-kura.com/  Download here: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/16405/retroplayer

Talking about Players, it’s your lucky day… I have one more.

* Cabrio 1.1 (Free) – PowerPC friendly 8.1 or later.  Yes you guys read that right Mac OS 8.1!?  This is a simple and cool MP3 player that is always good to have to play something that is not in your iTunes or library files. http://cabrio-os.en.softonic.com/mac

iConvertX Audio/Video PowerPC

It’s always important to have access to a good application that easily converts your video and audio.  iConvertX not only completes the conversion quickly, but anyone can figure how how to work it.  It’s as easy as drag and drop…so even your grandmother could figure out how to work it!

iConvertX 4.0.1 (Shareware $3.75) (First 5 times are free to try) http://joris-vervuurt.com/page4/page4.php  – PowerPC friendly, runs on 10.5 / 10.4 / 10.3 – Leopard / Tiger / Panther.

P.S.:  It seems Joris Vervuurt also developed iTubex, an application that allows you to download videos from Youtube.  As far as I can see, version 8.0 will work on PowerPC running 10.5, but unfortunately I didn’t find a safe source to download the application, to do my tests.  If you guys would like to share the results or links, please feel free to drop us a line to let us know how it worked for you!

List of format that will convert:

.mp4 / .flv / .3gp / .pct / .m4v / .avi / .dv / .mov / .flc / .qtl / .wav / .aiff / .au / .moov / .mp3 / .swa / .m1a / .mp2 / .mpa / .mpeg / .mpg / .m1s / .mpm / .divx / .mkv / .gvi / .vp6 / .vfw

MacSome: Audio Recorder / iTunes Converter

One of our latest post was about tunelyrics and I thought this application would be a good choice to mention as another option for iTunes lovers.

Macsome iTunes Music Converter 1.5.6  (The right version for PowerPC is 1.3.1 and can be download here http://download.cnet.com/Macsome-iTunes-Converter/3000-18549_4-11126093.html )(Demo – $39.95) converts any M4a to MP3, and even works with DRM, by converting protected music and various audio files into unprotected MP3, etc.

One more application from MacSome that works very well on PowerPC is the Macsome Audio Recorder 1.1.0 (Shareware – $29.95) 10.4 / 10.5 (Tiger / Leopard). It’s a very powerful audio recorder that works with applications like iTunes, Skype or DVD Player.  It also records from microphones, etc.  It’s a very helpful application to have installed on your Mac.  http://www.macsome.com/audio-recorder-mac/index.html

Thank you André for sharing this app with us.

*Xact – I took a look online and it seems this app Xact 2.14 is Intel only, but an old version like 2.13 or older 1.63 works in a PowerPC.  At this moment I can not test, but if you can please feel free to share with us the results.

1.63 – (10.2/10.3/10.4) http://download.cnet.com/DC30-Xact-Driver/3000-2108_4-39818.html
